Approximately 1,200 students studying at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Gölhisar Campus received their diplomas at a joint graduation ceremony. Students from Gölhisar School of Applied Sciences, Gölhisar Vocational School, and Gölhisar Health Services Vocational School celebrated their graduation joy with their families and academics.
The ceremony held at Gölhisar Park Forest National Garden was attended by MAKÜ Rector Hüseyin Dalgar, Gölhisar Mayor İbrahim Sertbaş, academic and administrative staff, and the families of the students.
In his opening speech, Gölhisar School of Applied Sciences Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Biçer stated that the graduating students successfully completed a long and challenging educational process, advising the youth to progress in the light of science and not to give up on honesty and hard work.
Gölhisar Vocational School Director Instructor Murat Ertilav said that graduation means not only receiving a diploma but also seeing the results of efforts and sacrifices. Reminding that the university is celebrating its 20th anniversary, Ertilav emphasized that families and academics play a significant role in the students' successes.
Gölhisar Health Services Vocational School Director Dr. Instructor Member İhsan Aşık addressed the graduates who will work in the health field, expressing that they should not stray from the light of science, conscience, and love for humanity while practicing their professions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gölhisar Mayor İbrahim Sertbaş stated that Gölhisar has been a district that has embraced students for years, saying that the youth completed their educational lives in peace and security. Mayor Sertbaş conveyed his wishes for success to the graduating students and congratulated their families for their efforts.
In the final speech of the program, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that Gölhisar Campus is one of the most important educational centers outside the university's main campus. He announced that four new departments have been opened in the last two years and that construction of the new educational building, for which the tender has been completed, will begin this year, stating that Gölhisar will continue to develop as a strong academic center.
Addressing the graduating students, Rector Dalgar expressed that university education not only provides professional knowledge but also develops thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, emphasizing that young people should continue to learn throughout their lives. Highlighting the importance of adapting to change in the age of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, Rector Dalgar urged students to always maintain the goal of being beneficial individuals to society and humanity.
After the speeches, success certificates were awarded to the students who ranked in the top positions. The top students immortalized their graduation memories by placing plaques on the age tree. Later, all graduates took the MAKÜ Graduation Oath accompanied by DJ Mücahit Cirit and threw their caps in the air after the countdown.
The graduation ceremony continued with music and entertainment programs led by DJ Mücahit Cirit, while students and their families experienced an unforgettable evening. The enthusiastic celebrations ended after events that lasted throughout the night.
